“Just to say how much I have enjoyed, in particular, the last two editions of the OSB newsletter. It has brought back fond memories of standing on The Crease on CCF inspection day, the year Sir Gus inspected us. I well remember the day Sir Gus arrived in the helicopter to land on Wallside. I think the whole village came to see what was going on. I was picked out to be introduced to Sir Gus on The Crease, by Major Francis, as I was the son of an old boy. My father had been at St Bees on School House with him in the late 20s/early 30s. He was certainly quite a school hero. What a coincidence his daughter should end up marrying an OSB.”
